Experience the magic of wood-fired pizza in your own backyard! In this class, participants will learn how to make their own dough, create their own pizzas with local, seasonal ingredients, and cook them in a wood-fired oven. There will also be opportunity to discuss building a backyard wood-fired oven.
Instructors Vince and Cathy Grove are self-acknowledged “foodies” who both love to cook and experiment in the kitchen. Vince constructed their wood fired oven a few years ago, and the couple has enjoyed using it for pita bread, sourdough white and rye bread, baguettes, many pizzas, prime rib, and beer can chicken. Cathy loves to grow greens in the salad box that Vince built, and each year harvests lettuce, kale, chard, and herbs in their backyard in addition to tomatoes and peppers. As retirees, Vince and Cathy enjoy volunteer activities and spending time with their five grown children and eight grandchildren.
