Film Screening "Food, INC."

August 21 and 23 at the Mary Riepma Ross Theatre

On August 21, "Food, INC." will be showing at The Mary Riepma Ross Theatre in Lincoln. How much do we really know about the food we buy at our local supermarkets and serve to our families? Our nation's food supply is now controlled by a handful of corporations that often put profit ahead of consumer health, the livelihood of the American farmer, the safety of workers and our own environment. The movie will begin at 7:00pm with a reception at 5:30 pm featuring local food from Open Harvest, Maggie's Vegetarian Restaurant, Pepe's Vegetarian Bistro, and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Dairy Store. The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Dining Services Good Fresh Local program will prepare an array of finger food paired with a great selection of local wines for your enjoyment. Come and meet local food producers and discover why Buy Fresh Buy Local Nebraska "Encourages the purchase and the enjoyment of locally grown food."

On August 23, a Movie Talk at 2:30pm will follow the 12:45 screening. For more information see www.buylocalnebraska.org or theross.org.
